    Hi all,
I am trying to get a cutter I got at the thrift shop up and running (advertised as working of course). I have been able to connect but it seems like I am unable to actually control it. A big part is that I have no documentation for the device, apart from the hardware setup guide I found online.

I am running a fresh install of PopOS w/ Cinnamon.

Here is where I am, I followed the instructions for setup here. www.codelv.com/projects/inkcut/docs/device-setup/
I installed the cutter as a printer because the only interface is a usb-b port, my computer detected it so I configured it as generic/raw queue.

Now in Inkscape the particular machine is not in the list of drivers, there is another SeikiTech machine but it is direct serial only. So I used the "Inkcut Generic Driver", connection type: printer, I found the device I set up in the list. Now the real problem for me to troubleshoot it is that I have no idea what protocol it expects. I was able to get it to spaz out a little by sending a job via DMPL mode 1, but the control buttons are not effective and I can not get it to stay connected and run a job. Normally when I send a job it just disconnects. I have tried rebooting everything and I have not found a pattern yet.

Long story short, does anyone know what protocol to use for this machine, or how to find this out?

For posterity, the answer is HPGL.

Here are all the configuration details for the Seikitek SK-720T

    Driver: Inkcut Generic Driver
    Speed/Force: Machine controlled
    Connection: Printer
    Port: (select "printer")
    Protocol: HPGL

    Of Note:
This machine uses standard/roland type blades.
