Hi, I registered to this forum just to ask this question:

I have an old HP Plotter which i want to retrofit as a cutting plotter.
I experimented with the blade offset and set it to a rather big value to see the influence it has.
I then created a simple rectangular path in inkscape. the plotter begins with the top left corner.
But the first line it prints is not horizontal but slightly skewed.
inkcut does not seem to add a blade alignment move before the first cut. is there any way to trick it into aligning the blade for the first cut?

if a second path is printed in the same run, it will make an alignment move for the first line of the second path.

Yes it's a "bug" in the algorithm. When starting it has no way of knowing what the orientation of the blade is.

You can add a line to the design right at the start to set it to a specific direction, then it should work.
