Inkcut moves the pen but never lowers it to plot on a Roland DXY-880

Hello, I have successfully installed inkcut and am running it standalone. When I open an svg file I see the image complete with all the blue lines that the program will use to move the pen. The plotter does move the pen to the location drops the pen for an instant then moves the pen to another location. It never draws the shapes?
I am using the generic inkcut plotter with QTserial and sending hpgl. Any ideas what I amd doing wrong? Thanks. JoeF.
