Hi everyone,
I am trying to get my older Secabo C60IV working with Inkcut on macOS and I hope I can post this here:
My setup
• MacBook Pro 13" 2018
• macOS 15.7.5 (24G624)
• CalDigit USB hub/dock
• Secabo C60IV from around 2015
• LAPOS 1 laser system
Current status
I managed to get Homebrew working and installed Inkcut successfully.
I also installed:
• PyQt5
• pycups
Inkcut now launches correctly and no longer throws Qt or cups errors.
USB detection
macOS detects the cutter correctly in System Information:
• Manufacturer: SAGACNC
• Product: SAGA Cutter Plotter
• USB device visible
• Also appears via lpinfo -v
The cutter is now also available as a printer device in macOS.
Communication status
Inkcut can apparently communicate with the cutter:
• when I send a job, the cutter briefly reacts/sums/zucks
• so there seems to be some communication
But:
• no actual movement happens
• no cutting
• no carriage motion
Current settings
• Connection type: Printer
• Protocol: HPGL
• Tried several serial settings before realizing printer transport works better
Questions
1. Which driver/profile is usually best for a Secabo C60IV?
2. Should this model use generic HPGL?
3. Does anyone know compatible drivers (Redsail / Refine / Creation / Roland etc.)?
4. Does “Pad commands with line feed” need to be enabled?
5. Any known macOS quirks with older Secabo plotters?
Any help appreciated.
