    Hi folks,

I love love love seeing projects like this pop up as I'm an artist and maker (mainly mechanical/robotic sculptures) and my toolpath is 99% Linux/open source and I prefer to keep it that way. We have a CNC router as well as 3D printers and everything in between we use to create our work.

One little problem child we have in our studio from an urgent purchase of what was available at the time a couple of years ago was a Brother "Design'n'Cut" (DC200) cutter/plotter. It of course is geared for mac/windows with drivers to suit (painful garbage drivers) and has a USB connection as well as a wireless connection.

When I patch the USB into my machine I'm presented with a connected drive of 3MB which I'm assuming is what the driver dumps a file into in some way.

As far as I can see, the Brother driver uses FCM files to store designs, and I'd hazard a guess that the driver dumps a file onto this USB to do its job.

Is there any support for this cutter available? I know the easy answer is "buy a supported unit" but being an artist we just never have those kinds of funds to replace things.

I'd even lend a hand if I can if there is some kind of starting point as I do some programming (mainly in C for our microcontrollers etc).

    Many thanks in advance,
    Jesse
